Anytime the temperature drops below 32 degrees a person can get frostbite as it affects the nose, ears, our fingers and our toes. It can cause serious damage to those parts of our bodies first such as attending outdoor games, doing chores outside and even shopping without wearing the proper warm clothing to keep the skin covered for protection.

Cold weather health tips are to help us avoid dangerous health risks and another one is called hypothermia and we usually don’t even realize how cold we actually get while being outside working or playing. It causes damage to our entire body when it gets to cold for a period of time. Some of these symptoms include burning, numbing and a tingling of the skin. 5 Tips for Treatment of Dry Skin

Skin as the largest organ of the body is also one of the most vulnerable to abuse. Approximately 30% of adults have dry skin which often appears rough, tight, dull in color – with visible fine lines and wrinkles. Although there are several factors that result in dryskin – including the genetic ones – this can be greatly caused by environmental factors (wind, sun, heat). - Reduce the frequency of washing

Did you know that washing by its definition is actually – drying? Washing removes the surface lipid film, along with environmental contaminants, sweat, sebum, peeled cells, and microorganisms. Thus people with dry skin need to reduce the frequency of washing and – lubricate the skin afterwards.

- Avoid soaps

The alkalinity of soaps disturbs the normal acidity (acid mantle) of the skin thus leading to dryness. Therefore people with dry and sensitive skin should use a soap-free cleanser. There are a number of synthetic detergents available that clean as well as soaps but are adjusted so that they do not alter the skin surface pH. - Apply creamy cleansers

- Change your products according to the seasons

Extremes of cold and hot weather as well as central heating and air-conditioning can strip your skin of essential moisture, leaving it dry and more prone to damage. For this reason you should change your products according to the seasons. Leave your moisturizing mask on skin for 5 -10 minutes. It works quickly and it is a great treat, particularly after sunbathing, or when your skin feels tight. Better yet – it can even remove dry patches, flakiness and fine wrinkles. Naturally, skin care does not stop at your neck. To maintain a beautiful body you should lavish the same care on it as you doon your complexion.

- Use oils for bathing

If your skin is naturally dry, the best way to re-hydrate yourdry skin is – bathing. However, when the skin is toweled dry and left open to the atmosphere, water exhales from the surface of the skin and your skin becomes dry again. That’s why bathing by itself is not enough – the exogenous water introduced into the skin must stay kept there. Bath oils contain vegetable or mineral oils and can be very useful for use in the bath or shower. Thus either add to the bathwater as it is running an egg-cupful of the oil or after taking the shower apply the oil directly to the skin and then rinse it off before drying. Acne Treatments for Battling Acne

Acne is a condition shared by millions of people around the world. In fact, it is estimated that more than 90% of people worldwide are suffering or have suffered from acne. The most commonly affected by acne are adolescents, those who are between the ages of 12 and 18 years. The adolescent stage is the stage where we are most prone to developing acne. Many acne problems do not respond to over-the-counter acne treatments, and severe cases of acne often require strong acne medications and even surgical methods. Others who have acne require use of acne treatments for months, and even years.

There are literally hundreds of acne treatments available without prescription. Some of these acne treatments are backed by scientific testing and are proven effective in reducing acne, while many of them are sold without any significant therapeutic effects. In most cases, a balance of pimple remedies is usually successful in minimizing the chances of developing acne except for acute cases. In general, there are three acknowledged acne treatments that should be considered and are helpful when dealing with acne.

First, the primary means of minimizing acne is getting rid of bacteria growth triggered by blocked skin pores. Dermatologists recommend acne treatments like antibiotics (tetracyclines) and anti-bacterial solutions like benzoyl peroxide on afflicted areas to kill bacteria. It should be noted, however, that less bacteria doesn’t reduce the amount of oil produced by the skin that is responsible for clogging the pores. The accumulation of dirt, dead skin cells and oil on the skin often results to the same clogged pore problem.

Most of the time, the acne breaks out again as soon as the acne treatments are done.

Another acknowledged way of battling pesky pimples is by taking vitamin A derivatives like isotretinoin over an extended period. This method aims to lessen the amount of oil produced by the glands under the skin. Many literature account for the effectiveness of this acne treatment method and have shown that isotretinoin is effective in decreasing acne incidents in 80% of patients with acute acne. Also, the medication has long term benefits in reducing recurrence of acne than anti-bacterial acne treatments. While effective, taking isotretinoin should be done under close supervision of a dermatologist as such acne treatments have slight side effects like nose bleeding and drying of the skin.

The third acne treatment is regularly exfoliating the skin to help unblock skin pores and reduce acne. Salicylic acid is commonly used in many acne treatments designed to exfoliate the skin. Salicylic acid is found to be effective in stimulating the skin to peel off and prevent the accumulation of dead skin cells.
