1. Check for moisture leakage around plumbing and other sources of water.

2. Check the humidity levels in your home and try and keep it below the 70% level so it doesn’t get toxic. Open the window when you shower to help keep humidity levels down.

3. Is your home above 75 degrees? if so, keep a fan running to move the air and let some sunshine through the windows to help prevent molds.

4. Change the filters in your air conditioner units regularly and also the heating unit.

5. Invest in a good quality air purification system that has a HEPA filter, UV and the negative ion technologies for the optimum results.

6. Thermostats set at approximately around 69-73 degrees and try and keep the humidity levels below 55% also.

7.Is your clothes dryer vented outside or do you have it vented into your basement? If vented inside, this causes a lot of humidity in the home.

8. Always put your laundered clothing away when completely dry in the closets, if you don’t there is a possibility of mold here also.

9. Always wear a protective mask when clearing or cleaning moldy surfaces that can protect the eye and the nasal passages. Wear gloves also and clear it a slightly damp cloth to prevent the spores from your lungs.

10. Keep things dry. Best preventive method of all to stop all molds.

Hope this helps you improve the quality of air and help you to clear the air-make it clean air for all of your loved ones.

Why Clean Air, Is it Clean

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Why clean air, is it clean in your home and or offices? Do you realize that the Dept. of Homeland Security recommends true HEPA filters for capturing and removing the dusts, pollens, ragweed, yes, it flies through the air and affects you also, dust mites-like it or not we all have them in our homes and offices, mold spores-yes, we would be very shocked to find this information out about our homes and offices, and lots of other allergens.

Another bit of information for you is that air purifiers do not destroy germs, viruses and other micr0-organisms.

It takes a germicidal UV lamp to do this task effectively for us and some of these air purifiers don’t have the activated carbon filter that filters out these germs floating in our rooms. Most air purifiers don’t reduce cigarette smoke and other household odors, such as odors from cooking, bathroom sprays and aerosols, of which are toxic to us as well.

Another feature is to make sure your air purification system has a carbon air filter for our best protection. This seems to best the best recommendation for clean air in our homes and offices. If you have a pet, this carbon air filter removes this dander and odor as well. I’m truly amazed at the air quality in my home with an air purification system with these main components. My allergies are held at a minimum and its so nice to take a breath of clean pure air.

Do you Have Allergies

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Do you have allergies especially at this time of the year, with all the trees, budding, flowers popping through the earth as Spring is in the air? Are you allergic to someones perfume more so now in the Spring as I am? With the high winds we are experiencing also this Spring, it seems that allergens are busy flying through the air also. It could be the dust and the pollens combines also as there are lots of people sneezing, experiencing runny noses and eyes and just plain miserable.

Spring cleaning also induces our allergies as such things as a tiny bit of dust will trigger our sensitives also. Even lotions, soaps, laundry detergents candles that are scented and our favorite cleaning products effect us at this time of year, due to our allergies and allergens in the air around us.

Avoiding the chemical reactions that we experience is sometimes very difficult. Public places such as our favorite restaurants, libraries and malls that we like to go shopping for everyday things just seem to bother us at times.

Practically all fragrances are airborne, they circulate through our vents with our furnaces and soon our air conditioning systems also. A word of encouragement is to make sure that you have either in your office at work and your own homes equipped with a HEPA  filter (a high quality and efficient air filter) that you replace on a regular basis. If you will notice that they make ones that are highly effective and designed for just this reason, to remove allergens from the air we breathe in home and office.

You can make a huge difference in the lives of your loved ones by doing this. The health matters of your family and yourself can be changed by adding an air purification system in your home. I know that they make a huge difference in my home.

What are “super foods”…and why should I care? You might as well ask a similar question: “What is clean air…and why should I care?” The answers to both questions are the same.

We know it as “quality of life”; and if by taking a few simple steps you could dramatically improve that quality, wouldn’t it be kind of silly to ignore those very steps?

If you live in an area that frequently announces the daily “air quality index” and frequently advises “staying indoors—in a ‘hepa filtered environment’” your options there may already be limited. You can uproot your family and “head for the hills” or a more rural environment; or, you can accept the prospect of ongoing breating problems.

If breathing is not your problem, but diet is, the answers there may be a simple as a trip to the local market. (With Google’s help, of course) Do a quick search for “super foods”.

Do several searches as I did, and you will eventually end up with the “basic lists of 14″ plus the one that includes CHOCOLATE–dark chocolate, but chocolate none-the-less.

Ongoing dietary research recommends 14 different, nutrient-dense foods, that very strongly promote good overall health. Coined “superfoods,” they tend to be lower in calories, higher in levels of vitamins and minerals, and to contain many disease-fighting antioxidants.

A diet built primarily, though not necessarily exclusively, around these super foods virtually guarantees a rapid improvement in your quality of life…improved digestion, higher energy levels, lowered blood pressure, the list goes on; but you get the idea.

And just what are these “mysterious, exotic” super foods, you ask?

(1) Beans—Practically any legume fits the bill.

(2) Berries—All are good; blueberries are best.

(3) Broccoli—No surprise here.

(4) Green Tea—Would Oprah lie to you?

(5) Nuts—Walnuts leading the list.

(6) Oranges—And almost all citrus fruits.

(7) Pumpkin—Pie anyone?

(8) Salmon—The wilder the better. Farms are for cows.

(9) Soy—May need to re-think this one; but I may be the only “tofu-phobe” on the planet.

(10) Spinach—Mom and Popeye were right all along.

(11) Tomatoes—You say tomahto…I say tomato.

(12) Turkey—It’s not just for Thanksgiving any more.

(13) Whole grains and oats—The more grains the better.

(14) Yogurt—An acquired taste. Personally, I’m still acquiring.

(15) CHOCOLATE—Dark, but still CHOCOLATE!

Did I mention CHOCOLATE?

And just what improvements to my quality of life can I expect from such “super foods”?
They warrant a list of their own:

(A) Lowered blood pressure.

(B) Diabetes—Reversed and/or controlled

(C) Alzheimer’s—Reduced or eliminated.

(D) Energy levels—Increased.

(E) Mood Swings—A thing of the past.

(F) Fatigue—Delayed till bedtime

(G) Bone and muscles—Improved tone and function

(H) Immune System—Strengthened

(I) Spirits—Watch thenm soar when you fit into your clothes again.

Superfoods can be the basis of a sound, healthy, nutritious lifestyle. Two weeks, or less, will be all the proof you need.
