Berry Healthy

Good morning,

The gardens are producing and the farmer’s markets are a most welcome site this time of the year. Let’s stop by one and see what they have to offer today that is pretty and berry healthy. Oh, look at those luscious-looking strawberries, they are more than just a pretty face or a tasty treat.

Strawberies have lots of antioxidants and anti-flammatory polyphenolics to help protect brain function as we grow older. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health also links two or more servings a week to reduce risk for cardisvascular disease. Several researchers find that strawberries inhibit the oxidation of LDL (the lousy) cholesterol, promote plaque stability, lower the risk of thrombosis, and improve vascular endothelial function.

Of all the berries, strawberries and black raspberries show the most significant anticancer effects in cell studies. and strawberry extract exhibits anticancer activity in other investigations.

Fresh and plentiful this time of year, so let’s help ourselves to some of these great healthy strawberries. Strawberries taste their best at room temperature in my opinion. Please don’t wash them until you’re ready to eat them, and then if you have extra berries you can freeze them to enjoy this healthy fruit year-round. When frozen they make a great ingredient to add to your smoothies anytime.

Another tip for your health when buying strawberries is be sure they are organic, as the conventional strawberries are high in toxic and persistance pesticides. These residues don’t wash off of your strawberry either and they are so tender that you can’t scrub them.

Here’s a neat receipe for you to try that includes strawberries.

4c. fresh baby spinach, washed, 1c. hulled, sliced strawberries, 1/4c. toasted, chopped pecans and 1/2c. of your favorite vinaigrette dressing. Toss this all together with this dressing. Serve.

Enjoy your strawberries for a berry healthy lifestyle and oh, so good for you and your loved ones.

Pastry-faced and Healthy

Good morning,

With the hot sun and long days of summer, can you and are you able to be outside in the sun for long periods of time and not get burned? Well, I for one am one of those pastry-faced persons that can not do it nor should I.

You see I am a melanoma survivor. My dreams of being a sun-bather or experiencing extended periods of being in the sun are gone. I also experienced getting too much heat from the sun also and that is also serious for ones health.

Here are some health tips: the melanin, a skin pigment, darkens the skin and protects it against the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation. How you produce melanin may convey social status and or appearance of health, vitality and wealth.

Some people use the full-spectrum sunlight but this also is dangerous and can cause ultra-violet damage to our tender skin.

Those same cells that produce skin pigment and protect from UV rays of sunlight or sunshine may also produce an abnormality called melanoma or another term used is skin cancer.

Melanoma can be particularly devastating, as some believe there are no effective treatment option and life expectancy is approximately nine months after diagnosis, at best.

Researchers are actually looking to see if cancer-fighting capabilities are possible by seeing if the body’s own line of defence is where it all begins. T-cells which moderate our immune system, kept at optimum with a proper diet are so important as our health matters.

Include those raw foods on a daily basis and eat lots of them in the summer, sunny months, they are so important for the proper nutrition of our immune systems. You and only You can induce your immune system to stick around and keep cancers from growing.

The proper way of dealing with this is number one. Don’t stay in the sun until you look like a beet or fried tater. Proper care while you are younger will also protect you from early wrinkling, premature aging, cancer and you will look prettier if you a lightly tanned instead of a brown leather look.

Let’s not let death be a option and observe some sun rules and eating habits of adding lots of raw veggies and raw fruits in our daily lives all year long. I also have changed my lifestyle since my melanoma and do include lots of raw veggies and raw fruits into my diet. By the way, I am a survivor for over 10 years. Join me, will you?

WhyWon’t People take care of their Health like Cars

Good afternoon,

Why don’t people take care of themselves, at least, as good as they do their vehicles? Why do they think that can run on ‘empty’ when it comes to proper nutrition? Can anyone of you help me with this today? Why do we buy sodas, chips, candy bars, sugar-loaded energy drinks, sugar-loaded energy bars? 

Are their anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, any of the necessary ingredients to rebuild our cells in any of those junk foods?

You do know that your body is the most amazing body ever created and put together in a way to constantly rebuild itself and that it truly does need check-ups, refills of raw veggies and raw fruits grown organically to mimize  having to deal with chemicals, which by the way can do lots of damage if you body is challenged in any way or becoming that way due to improper nutrition. All dis-eases are caused by the improper eating and re-fueling of our systems on a daily basis.

I have found and subscribe to the Halleluijah newsletters and truly enjoy their receipes and advice on dealing, healing and being whole again. I want to share some excerpts from them so you can see for yourselves some testimonies of what time and taking care of ourselves can do and how we do have a choice on dealing with it.

Have you ever wondered why certain parts of the world are healthier than living where you are? Have you ever thought that there just might be a reason for it? Has the thought crossed your mind of moving to another country and live their lifestyles? That is probably not possible for us is it? Well, just think, we can adopt that eating lifestyle if we will just study it for a bit. Let’s visit and re-think our diets for our Health matters.

Health tips from the Mediterranean will be today’s thoughts. Join me in implementing these ideas into you health tips as health matters for us to work, laugh, play and be at our very best today.

In the Mediterranean area people live to be health and well due to their diets and lifestyles, while here in the Western culture, we are all stressed-out and grab foods that are all sugar-loaded, unhealthy fat loaded, nitrate loaded and caffeine loaded. Meals in the Mediterranean are carefully thought and planned with lots of raw foods which are fresh, loaded with flavor and enjoyed at a much slower pace which helps our foods digest at a healthier pace.

In the Mediterranean you find that meats, fish and dairy products are used as condiments, not the main course. Your fresh raw foods which are grown year-round fill their plates with vitamin-rich seasonal foods at all times. Summer brings them peppers, tomatoes, onions, garlic, squash,and eggplant for their daily veggies. Spring brings them much like us here your radishes, lettuce and asparagus from our gardens. They also have fall squash and fennel. So you see we can have all of this in our diets as well. These are all simple foods and accessible to anyone and not just the wealthy, so we need to eat and enjoy them for better health.

When you take the time to stop and prepare these fresh raw veggies and raw fruits, your lifestyle, your stamina and your health will improve and prevent disease from attacking your systems and that of your children. You will need to exercise, preferably outside where the fresh air will also refresh your system, both your mind and soul.

The Mediterranean lifestyle is great for keeping inflammation out of our bodies, as that is central to all of our diseases and understanding of keeping it out of our bodies is very important to our health matters. Anti-inflammatory compounds are found in our raw foods so include raw veggies and raw fruits to your diets daily.

Include more whole grain pastas into your diets instead of bread as pasta is a slow-release carbohydrate. If you have concerns about diabetes this is a great idea to help combat that as well. Slowing down digestion is to avoid that rush of glucose. Add those vegetables to your pasta dish with tomatoes for a healthy meal with organic extra-virgin olive oil. Tomatoes will give you that lycopene that you need.

This mediterranean diet will improve your health matters and give you protective strengths against cancer, arthritis, respiratory illness, Alzheimer’s and other diseases. Try adding lots of raw veggies and raw fruits and also drink healthy coffee and teas to your health. You will feel better for it.
