Be Grateful This Thanksgiving

Be grateful this Thanksgiving for all the bounty that we have here in the United States. Yes, things have changed quite a bit in the last few months but the one thing that we need to do more  of is say “Thank You” to everyone. Showing gratitude and appreciation for each other is also healthy for us.

Give thanks for the food on your table. Give thanks for the family that you have. Give thanks that we still live in the greatest country of freedom. Give thanks that we are free. Give thanks for those that are protecting our freedoms.

When we sit down to that dinner prepared, let us remember that first Thanksgiving when our forefathers came through huge struggles and challenges. Let us enjoy each other and appreciate all of those that do not have food on their tables. Let us remember our food pantry’s this year as there are those who will be hungry that day also, yes, even here in the United States.

Here’s a couple of hints for the left-overs of our meal on Thanksgiving day: Refrigerate as soon as possible all of the food, use all left-overs within 3 days, and you can also freeze the left-over meat in labeled packages for future use within 3 or 4 months. Fruit pies can be left out a bit longer than creme pies or that that have eggs in the ingredients. Always reheat gravies to at least 165 degrees for safety and the dressing that you prepared.

Make sure and include lots of fresh organic raw vegetables, organic fresh fruits and whole grain breads on this day also. Use raw foods to add color and nutrition to this day also. You might like to serve an organic wine in clear glasses for that beautiful color also.

Number one tip for this day is be grateful as we are all blessed in at least one way.
