Feeling Blue is Un-Healthy
Friday, May 30th, 2008
Good morning,
As I’m sitting here writing to all of you today, excited that we were spared from the storms raging across the middle of the States again yesterday, there are those that were hailed-out, which means that they will not have a wheat crop to harvest, there are fences washed out, storm damage from the hail is unbelievable with windows out of homes and vehicles. There is also property damage to homes, business and farms. This is one form of being and feeling blue on this day.
Another form of feeling blue, is having that feeling if you are dealing with serious dis-eases such as cancer. The best time is now before you have to deal with cancers, is considering your diet and lifestyle.
Why don’t we start when we have those family get-to-gathers by checking to see if cancers are in our family trees?
This is a preventative measure for starters. Some ideas and suggestions for us to consider are getting adequate exercise as that helps defend against cancer and practically everything else.
One big reason is that insulin resistance, the precursor to type 2 diabetes, that exercise helps control, and also seems to increase the risk of several different types of cancers.
The single biggest controllable risk factor, you guessed it, is our diets. Well, tobacco is the number one but that is another topic, right? Did you know that it is estimated that over 35% of the reasons for cancer, are our diets?
Eating plant foods, such as raw veggies, raw fruits, and beans supply a huge amount of anti-oxidants that can keep cancers from attacking our systems. To also protect ourselves we need to watch how we cook red meats, especially this summer on those grills, it will produce carcinogenic compounds when cooked over high heat and especially flames. Eating in moderation is always a good policy and more healthy for us. Over consumption of alcohol is also a great danger to our health, here again, moderation is the key for health. Drinking those drinks filled with sugars of all types and those diet drinks filled with all those foreign substances are very dangerous as well.
It is a proven fact that having a positive view of life will improve our life also. Do your best to think positive thoughts as thoughts can and do create your life. It’s very clear that depression and isolation lead to a number of chronic dis-eases including cancers. Feeling blue is dangerous for our bodies as well as our minds. Go for a walk-exercise, appreciate those flowers, birds singing, children laughing and yourself.
Please don’t fall into the trap of thinking you are fated to develop cancer. Just try and understand your family history. Exercise daily or at least several times per week, eat that diet of lots of raw veggies ,raw fruits and everything that will help keep your body loaded with anti-oxidants so you can avoid that one dis-ease that everyone fears the most.
